2023Winter Deferment Application 2023 Taxes

The Arlington Township Treasurer is available in person December 1st-February 29th at the Arlington
Township Hall (52022 34th Avenue, Bangor, MI) the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, as well as 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on December 27th and February 29th to collect Winter and Summer (deferred or delinquent) taxes.
We prefer checks, but also accept money orders, cashier’s checks or cash.
If paying in cash, you must have the exact amount; no change will be made.
When paying by check please make sure the number and text amount match, and match the tax bill. We DO NOT accept credit or debit cards.

February 29th is the last day to submit your current year Summer and Winter tax (2023) payments to Arlington Township.
Summer taxes that were not paid or postmarked by September 14th are considered late, and incur a 1% interest charge through September 30th, and an additional 1% at the 1st day of each month until February 29th.
Winter tax payments become delinquent March 1st.
Beginning March 1st, you must submit unpaid Summer and Winter tax payments to the Van Buren County Treasurer.

The due date of Winter taxes can be deferred until April 30th 2024 without interest, if this your principal residence AND [you are at least 62 or disabled and have applied for and not yet received the MI property tax credit before Feb 15th]. A copy of the income tax form must accompany your application for deferral. A copy of the form can be obtained at the Township Hall or online at https://www.arlingtontownship.com/forms-and-permits

You can use this website to check on the status of your tax payments; including printing out tax receipts and/or bills. You will need to do this for tax bills that are delinquent as a result of the late interest charge.

You can search by name, address, or parcel number.
Once you locate the correct property, you can click item in the list to bring up the tax information.

You can click on the arrow beside Winter 2023 to display tax information, with the option to print the tax bill.
You can do the same for Summer 2023. There is also a payment calendar to show you the change in your tax bill as a result of late payments.

Notice to Arlington Township Residents

Application for Waiver of Interest for Winter 2023 Taxes

Following is a resolution of the Van Buren County Board of Commissioners as passed at their September 8, 2020 meeting:

WHEREAS, any taxpayer who is a senior citizen, paraplegic, quadriplegic, eligible serviceman, eligible veteran, eligible widow, or who is totally and permanently disabled or blind, may delay paying taxes on his or her homestead until April 30 of the first year of delinquency, and;

WHEREAS, Section 59 of the General Property Tax Act allows County Board of Commissioners to waive any interest, fee or penalty in excess of the interest, fee of penalty that would have been added if the tax had been paid prior to February 15, for those taxpayers if they:

1.) Have filed their Michigan Income Tax and Homestead Tax Credit before February 15;
2.) Have not received their refund before March 1, and;
3.) Present a copy of the property tax credit form to the township or County Treasurer.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Van Buren County Board of Commissioners hereby approve the above deferral and waiver.

I hereby request waiver of the interest on my Winter 2023 taxes through April 30, 2024. I certify that
I meet the eligibility requirements in paragraph 1 above, have applied for the Michigan Property Tax Credit, have attached a copy of the first page of the Tax Credit and have not yet received my refund. I also acknowledge that no reminder bill will be sent, and if these taxes are not paid on May 1, 2024, all interest charges will be added.
